Harrison Ford is the star of Glenmorangie Whisky's new global campaign.
As Ford's gravelly voiceover articulates the term "Glenmorangie" with a deep, resonant Scottish accent, it evokes a profound resonance of exhilaration through the unique, epic, sweeping landscapes, from moorlands to glistening lochs.
This marks yet another collaboration between a celebrity and the whisky industry. The series offers a humorous critique of whisky's typically solemn persona, as Ford navigates Scottish clichés of kilt etiquette and challenging pronunciations with remarkable finesse. All whilst savoring a dram or two, naturally.
The cinematic icon assumes the principal role in a collection of episodic films entitled Once Upon a Time in Scotland, helmed by the talented actor and filmmaker Joel Edgerton.
In a notable display, the team from the Highland distillery joins Ford in front of the camera, demonstrating that they are not merely connoisseurs of whisky but also possess a commendable sense of camaraderie. The brand's premier single malt Scotch whiskies, Glenmorangie Original 12 Years Old and Glenmorangie Infinita 18 Years Old, also receive a commendable amount of attention.
In a particular episode, we observe Ford grappling with his articulation as he endeavors to master the pronunciation of Glenmorangie, while in another instance, he navigates the challenges inherent to inexperience as a novice kilt wearer. Emphasizing the irritable and contentious facets of his persona for comedic effect, Ford embarks on a journey of enlightenment as he encounters the authentic individuals who craft Glenmorangie at the distillery in Tain. Dr. Bill Lumsden and Gillian Macdonald from the whisky creation team assume auxiliary roles throughout various episodes. This marks the inaugural occasion on which the craftsmanship of the local artisans employed at the brand's headquarters has been central to a Glenmorangie advertisement since the 16 Men of Tain campaign in the 1990s. Shot over a span of three days across the Highlands, “Once Upon a Time in Scotland” features locations such as the 19th-century Ardross Castle, the picturesque vistas surrounding Loch Glass, and diverse scenes at Glenmorangie Distillery, encompassing both the warehouse and the stillroom. The completed episodes present Glenmorangie’s principal selection of Highland single malts and will be disseminated throughout 2025, with the initial six episodes and supplementary content currently accessible for viewing on Glenmorangie’s website, as well as online and across various social media platforms.
